Talkin' about Kyle Petty and him wearing an ear ring in the garage at Charlotte back in the day, his dad gave the best quote of the weekend. When asked about Kyle wearing an ear ring to a Nascar race and what he thought about it, Richard Petty replied "well his mama raised him"

I love that the ideas behind LOLcats has reached the NASCAR community! There are some good ones on the LOLracepics.com website. HAHA!

Scotts Releases Statement On Edwards’ Incident
Roush Fenway Racing primary sponsor Scotts spoke up Thursday, weighing in on the Carl Edwards – Brad Keselowski controversy by releasing the following statement:
“Scotts appreciates the support of NASCAR fans everywhere, and we have an excellent relationship with Carl Edwards, Jack Roush, and the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing team. However, like many fans, we were very concerned about the on-track incident that occurred in Atlanta this past weekend. As a result, we have strongly expressed these concerns to both Carl and Jack, and we are confident that they have a clear understanding of the trust we have placed in them as ambassadors of our company, our associates, and our brands. In addition, as a sponsor, we want to make sure that drivers, race teams, and NASCAR focus on keeping these types of incidents and misjudgments from happening.”
Edwards continues to have no public comment on the matter, remaining silent since his Facebook posts on the penalty were published earlier this week.

Keselowski Won't Back Down
Brad Keselowski, the victim of Carl Edwards’ wrath at Atlanta Motor Speedway last week, says he doesn’t plan on changing how he races and doesn’t feel that he has been overly aggressive in the majority of the on-track incidents he has been blamed for. The 26-year-old Penske Racing driver, whose car got airborne and slammed roof-first into the outside wall when Edwards intentionally wrecked him at Atlanta, has no intention of changing his driving style despite the latest in a series of incidents with other drivers in the past two years. -- “To be honest, that’s probably the best revenge there is –- to not let it get to me one bit, to not change,” Keselowski said Thursday. “In a way, that’s a sign to him and everyone else that that’s not going to work on me. ...More

Edwards and Keselowski to Test New Spoiler at Talladega? |

When the teams were chosen for next week’s Talladega test, I wonder if they intentionally chose Joey Logano so he could have some seat time in the wing-free COT 2.O before an actual race weekend.
And thanks to Jeff Holtzclaw, I wonder if NASCAR has considered putting Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski in the cars on the track so we can see how they react when they get wrecked at high speeds. That should show us a lot more than any wind tunnel ever could.
I wonder if Mike Helton at least smiled when Kevin Harvick mused that he’d like to petition for a refund of past penalty monies paid to NASCAR in light of their non-penalty on the 99 this week.
I wonder if I’m the only one who just now found out there are people who don’t like Kenny Wallace. Seriously? Herman haters!!
As the plot thickens, now Jeremy Mayfield’s former brother-in-law has also been suspended for substance abuse. Seems he was working as a spotter for David Gilliland, and failed his random test. First, I wonder why NASCAR wouldn’t test him sooner, given that he claims to have seen Mayfield using meth. If you’re not a meth user, when’s the last time you’ve seen someone use it in front of you? Don’t they kind of stick together that way?
And I also wonder if anyone’s thought to test Sam Hornish’s spotter. We might be on to something.
I wonder how an ESPN reporter got involved in the Mayfield mess. I must be out of that loop, but I can’t help but notice it’s the same ESPN reporter that was highly criticized this week by at least one Cup driver and at least one other member of the media. Curious.
I wonder if it's just coincidence that this off weekend is the same Sunday that we change our clocks back. Maybe NASCAR was concerned that a lost hour would make for lower ratings?
I wonder if anyone’s ever had a blow-out on a city street or highway, and reported to his insurance company, “I cut a tire.”
And one more thing I was just wonderin’…
Am I the only one to see the good in the 99 vs. 12 feud? “What’s good about it,” you ask? Think about it… since it all happened on Sunday, have you even heard the name “Danica”? Oops. I guess now you have.

Carl is definitely not NA$CAR's golden boy. If you want the answer, take a look at some of NA$CAR's official products. It seems that Jack Roush has put together some pretty lucrative sponsors that are in an official capacity with NA$CAR. My guess is that Scott's needed their driver to participate in next week's Scott's Turf Builder 300 at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Money talks in NA$CAR, we all know that. Otherwise, we might actually get to see the best 43 drivers race each week...

You are exactly right, Shawn. NASCASH is ALL about $$$$. The top 35 lock in crap is about sponsor $$$$$. Why would anyone new want to get in this mess? No chance that the best 43 cars on a given weekend get in the race!! Drivers get in more trouble for telling the truth about Nascar than for intentionally wrecking someone. JMO

NA$CAR is not a democracy. It is a dictatorship, and that's exactly how the France family set things up when they created NA$CAR in the first place.

The problems in Nascar, though there are many, really stem from one issue, and that's protectionism. They are protecting sponsors, teams and owners that bring in the big money to keep this ship afloat. Once upon a time you had to race your way (through qualifying or even heat races) into the field. That meant that the little man had the same chance the big man did to make a race and collect a check based on his performance during that race. That's no longer the case. Nascar now is about keeping the money players in the show so they can get the exposure they have paid for through their sponsorships of drivers and owners. I believe that this is a pattern that will eventually doom Nascar. Brian France does not have the command and control that Big Bill and Bill Jr. once had. These men were business men and they knew how to run a business as well. It's kinda like comparing the free market enterprise to socialism. In the free market system there is constant competition and one of the results of that is an improved product at a cheaper price. In socialism the competition is controled by a governing body for the general welfare of all. Once you try to govern in a way that tries to control the outcome, you've lost. Nascar is trying to control who is in their races. An example of this is Carl Long vs. Carl Edwards. Is anyone out there prepared to tell me that if the roles where reversed that Carl Edwards would have been fined into extinction and Carl Long would get probation. Nascar is killing the competition to compete in its series. I also think that if all these tracks wouldn't have borrowed huge amounts of money to expand their seats and facilities, they wouldn't find themselves in the spot that they are in now. How in the world people think they can borrow large amounts of money to fund expantion and never consider the ups and downs of our economy is beyond me. But because they are in debt up to there eyeballs, they are now slaves to the big dollar sponsors and therefore have to keep the the big teams in at the expense of fair and level competition. In other words......the tail is waggin' the dog.

back in the old nascar days this happened so much, no one ever heard of fines for rough driving, who would want to be the official to tell yarborough he was fined for rough driving? i'm not saying carl was right but neither has brad been lately. black flagged, parked for remainder of the race or even lap penalties during the race, but punishment in my opinion should not carry over into another race,.... he without sin cast the first stone.....

StreetStock5, you, good sir, hit the nail on the head. It IS the tail wagging the dog in modern-day NA$CAR. Had this happened with Carl Long, he'd get the "Get the heck out, do not pass go, do not collect $200" card.
